The club’s library has a number of new videos and printed material.

The LIWA wishes to thank the LI Woodworkers for inviting us to the Long Island Woodworking Show.  It was a wonderful event that enabled woodworkers and turners to display their work, see great demonstrations and seminars, and purchase woodworking equipment.   A good time was had by all.

Carl Saenger publicly thanked Jim Diamond and Alan Russo for presenting seminars at the Long Island Woodworkers Show.  Thanks to Norm Abrams for coordinating the event for the LIWA. Martin Rost for setting up the displays and Charlie Panzner for donating all of  the wood blanks.  Charlie also ran to an electrical supply house to get unbreakable bulbs so that the public could better see the demonstrations.

We also wish to thank all of the members who demonstrated during the  two day show:  Joe DeMaiio, Roger Rosicki, Doug Ruggiero, John McCormick, hohn Wagner, Peter Richichi.

Bob Brady reported on the LIWA grant proposal.  The club should resubmit the proposal for outreach to teens including the target organizations i.e.. School districts and Scouts.   The A.A.W wants to know how the proposal will be implemented.  We will have to contact BOCES to arrange for the school’s space and Marty Mandelbaum volunteered space in the event that BOCES is not available.  The Club voted to postpone resubmission until the fall.

A lengthy discussion ensued about the need for an effective audio visual system to improve our memberships ability to see and hear demonstrations better at our meetings.  A loner system was used at  the meeting which involved a monitor and video camera.  Alan Russo served as the cameraman.  Additional projection equipment was tested which would involved a projector on loan from Marty Mandelbaum that would show the demonstration on a movie type screen.  A committee was established to determine what system would best suite our needs Carl Saenger, Joel Rakower, Martin Rost, Steve Fulongi and Marty Mandelbaum have been authorized to spend up to $500 for an effective AV system. The members were impressed with loner system.  It markedly improved the visual portion of the meeting.

Club Tee shirts are available for Doug Ruggiro  in the library for $13.

Members who ordered band saw blades should see Marty Mandelbaum.

Marty Mandelbaum volunteered to print a number of Club leaflets that can be distributed by librarians while our work is on display.  The first page of the newsletter will be used to introduce the club and its activities.

A suggestion was made to ask the libraries that wish to display our work if they would like us to do a demonstration some time while the displays are in the libraries.
