The club offers a wide range of opportunities for its members to
improve their turning techniques and enjoy the company of other
turners. There are demonstrations by club members at our
meetings. Renown guest turners do 6 hour workshops several
times during the year at a nominal charge to club members. A
free video and text library is available for their use. Members
are invited to participate in our monthly wood auction. All are
encouraged to bring samples of recent work to our "SHOW & TELL
and become active participants. The club participates in the
activities of the American Association of Woodturners and
encourages its members to join. Many members attend their yearly
symposium.

Jim Diamond
reporting for our treasurer
Joe DeMaio that the
treasurery has $1,888.99.
Trent Bosch
left two videos and two unfinished pieces from his demo
last month. They were auctioned for $57.00.
Lenny Mulqueen, Steve Fulgoni
and Marty Mandelbaum
were the successful bidders.
Charlie Panzner brought
twenty pieces of elm, maple, cherry etc to the meeting. Members
paid two dollars per piece to benefit the club’s treasury.
Thanks Charlie.
It was reported that reciprocating carvers like those used by
Trent Bosch can be purchased at reasonable prices on e-bay.
The Rockville Center Library display set up by Jim Diamond had
about thirty pieces. Jim would have liked more members to
participate. Members will have another opportunity to show
their Club and community spirit by bring pieces for the East
Islip Library display to the July meeting.
Charlie Panzner and
Carl Saenger will set up
this upcoming display.
Marty Mandelbaum set up
the video and audio for this meeting. The club unanimously
approved an expenditure of up to $500 for the new system.
Marty donated an 8mm camera in addition to researching and
setting up the new system. We still need some tripods and some
additional equipment to beef up the audio and a battery for the
8mm camera. Thanks to Marty for all of his hard work and
keeping the total cost under $500. |
