nominal charge to club members. A free video and text library
is available for their use. Members are invited to participate
in our monthly wood auction. All are encouraged to bring
samples of recent work to our "SHOW & TELL and become active

The A.A.W did not
approve the LIWA proposal for audio and visual equipment.
Marty Mandelbaum
suggested the club approve the expenditure from our general
funds. It would make viewing and hearing demonstrators much
more pleasant. Many members had reservations but it is a
subject that needs additional discussion.
Bob Brady
will investigate what needs to be done to reapply for the LIWA
grant.
The treasurer reports $2,129.99 in the club account.
The Club will display it’s work in the Rockville Center
Library June 7—June 28. Jim
Diamond will coordinate the display. We would like at
least one piece per member to be brought to the May meeting.
The piece should not exceed an eight inch diameter.
The East Islip Library would like a display for the month of
August. Charlie will coordinate.
There was a motion to purchase a first aid kit to be kept in
the Club library.
Peter Stoltz has a
source for discounts on band saw blades. A club order was
placed.
Ken
Deaner extends his thanks to
Marty Mandelbaum for
taking notes in his absence.
Wood Auction
After a great start this year the number of members bringing
wood to our monthly wood auction has fallen off. We have had to
postpone two wood auctions over the past two meetings. Many
members find it very difficult getting wood to turn. The
auction serves as an additional avenue for turning blanks.
Please bring some wood to the next meeting.
Club Library
Many new books and tapes are available in the Club’s
library. The library serves as inspiration form many of our
members and is well maintained. Please remember to return your
materials on a timely basis.
April 12, 2003 Demonstration
Rich DeTrano is
scheduled to demonstrate at the next meeting. Rich is a fine
turner whose work has been featured in the A.A.W journal. His
hollow forms and carving have be an inspiration to many of our
members. Don’t miss the next meeting. Please note the change
of date due to the holidays.
